Mr. Naik Qayoom, an accomplished innovator and entrepreneur from Kreei village, Shahabad Dooru, Anantnag, has dedicated his career to developing practical technologies that address the challenges faced by rural communities and the agricultural sector. An M.Tech graduate with a strong passion for innovation, Mr. Qayoom's journey was shaped by his close association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag, located in his native village, where regular interactions with scientists deepened his understanding of agriculture, rural livelihoods, and the need for locally relevant technological solutions.

Driven by a vision to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, Mr. Qayoom established Kashmir Technology Ventures and the Kalam Innovation Centre, creating a platform to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs and encourage technology-driven solutions for regional development. His initiatives have inspired many young innovators to transform creative ideas into practical enterprises capable of addressing real-world challenges

The path to success, however, was not without obstacles. During the early stages of his entrepreneurial journey, Mr. Qayoom faced limited access to research and development support, financial and infrastructural constraints for developing prototypes, and a lack of platforms where rural innovators could showcase and validate their ideas. Additionally, introducing new technologies to traditional farming communities required overcoming skepticism and building confidence in modern, mechanized solutions.

With determination and continuous learning, Mr. Qayoom developed a range of innovative technologies aimed at improving agricultural efficiency and reducing manual labour. Among his notable innovations are cost-effective walnut processing technologies, designed to streamline post-harvest handling and add value to one of Kashmir's most important horticultural crops, and an Automated Seed Sowing Machine, successfully demonstrated and validated at KVK Anantnag, which enables precise, labour-saving, and time-efficient sowing operations. These innovations are specifically designed to meet the needs of farmers in the challenging terrain of Jammu & Kashmir, where affordable and practical mechanization can significantly improve productivity.

Today, Kashmir Technology Ventures stands as a model of technology-driven rural entrepreneurship. Mr. Qayoom's journey demonstrates how scientific knowledge, innovation, and perseverance can be combined to develop practical solutions that strengthen agriculture, promote mechanization, and empower rural communities. Through his continued work and mentorship, he remains committed to inspiring the next generation of innovators to create technologies that contribute to sustainable agricultural and rural development.
