Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam, a young and progressive entrepreneur from Magraypora, Achabal, has established himself as one of South Kashmir's leading practitioners of high-density apple orcharding. Coming from a modest farming family, he envisioned transforming traditional horticulture into a modern, profitable enterprise despite facing financial limitations and limited access to advanced cultivation practices.
The journey was not without challenges. Transitioning from conventional low-return farming to a technically demanding high-density orchard system required significant knowledge, dedication, and perseverance. Limited initial capital, lack of awareness about modern orchard management, and competition in the nursery plant sector presented considerable obstacles during the early stages of his venture.
With continuous technical guidance from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag, Mr. Hajam steadily built his expertise in scientific orchard management. Apart from receiving an initial allocation of 500 rootstocks under a NABARD-supported project, he relied primarily on his own determination, regular interactions with KVK experts, and the adoption of recommended horticultural practices to expand his enterprise.

Today, Janish HD Farms Ltd. stands as a successful example of innovation-driven horticulture in the region. Mr. Hajam's achievements demonstrate how scientific knowledge, modern production techniques, and persistent effort can transform traditional farming into a sustainable and profitable agribusiness. His journey continues to inspire young farmers across Kashmir to embrace advanced horticultural technologies and pursue agriculture as a viable entrepreneurial opportunity.
