Mr. Refaz Ahmad Wani, an enterprising young innovator from the remote village of Wandevelgam Soyan, Anantnag, has emerged as a promising agri-tech entrepreneur dedicated to solving real-world farming challenges through indigenous innovation. Along with his identical twin brother, Refaz has earned recognition for developing practical, affordable, and farmer-friendly technologies designed to improve agricultural efficiency and reduce labour for small and marginal farmers.
Inspired by the everyday struggles of rural farming communities, Refaz firmly believes that grassroots innovation can play a transformative role in strengthening agriculture and improving rural livelihoods. However, turning innovative ideas into market-ready products was far from easy. Limited access to funding, fabrication facilities, and institutional support, coupled with skepticism towards new technologies and limited market exposure, posed significant challenges during the early stages of his entrepreneurial journey. Scaling prototypes into commercially viable products required perseverance, technical guidance, and continuous refinement.

Motivated by these challenges, Refaz focused on designing innovative agricultural tools that are simple, affordable, and tailored to local farming needs. His notable innovations include the Spade-cum-Hoe, a multifunctional hand tool that reduces labour and improves field efficiency; Bending Clips and Tree Safety Holders for canopy management in high-density orchards; a Cow Urine Collecting Device that supports organic farming by facilitating the collection of valuable natural inputs; and an Automatic Apple Plucker designed to minimize fruit damage while reducing manual drudgery during harvesting.
Each innovation reflects his commitment to developing technologies that are practical, cost-effective, and easily adoptable by farming communities. By combining local knowledge with innovative thinking, Refaz has demonstrated that meaningful technological solutions can emerge from rural areas to address the everyday needs of farmers.

Today, Wani Farming Tools Industry stands as an inspiring example of grassroots agricultural innovation. Mr. Wani's journey highlights the power of creativity, resilience, and entrepreneurship in addressing real farming problems while encouraging young innovators to develop sustainable technologies that strengthen India's agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of farming communities.
